Disclaimer: The techniques shown here are representative of the way that I work. I have highlighted certain Health and Safety points throughout but responsibility lies solely with the person who is carrying out the woodturning. Always adhere to safe working practices at all times. Remember the more fingers that you lose, the harder it becomes to turn wood!

Finishes and After Care

Oil and Wax

I use Liberon’s Finishing Oil for the majority of finishes.  I apply a minimum of 3 coats of oil and then I use 0000 steel wool to remove any imperfections and raised grain.

After the oil has been applied I use a good quality paste wax to give a more lustrous look and feel.

To repair the finish use the Finishing Oil and wax as stated above.  In general use the application of a good quality paste wax such as Liberon’s wax or Briwax will restore the finish.  Please use the directions on the wax that you use carefully.
